This is the first lesson taught to any animation student. Overall I found this tutorial very useful, and it was easy to follow. This is a one animation that every beginner must master before ever moving on to more complex animations. It will also carry on further than the heavy bowling ball.Īdding rapid Backspin and then front spin to the launched ball. I did the Same with the beach ball, but since its ‘filled’ with air it was going to have a higher bounce but a lighter drop to it. I then used Flatten and various tools to Ease parts of the ball. Preparation has been complete and my stage looks near enough the same as the person in the videos scene, I then began to follow the tutorial, since I have animated in Maya a bit in the past I found it relatively easy to follow.Īfter placing the keyframes of the bowling ball, i learnt that deleting most of the keyframes in the graph editor makes the motion more fluid and natural. I even tried to Mimic the balls he used, I rendered the bowling ball and gave it colour, With the Beach-ball I set it all to one colour, then went back and selected some of the faces and coloured them a different colour. I took it a step further and even coloured it. Since there were no starting files for this tutorial, I had to create my own stage using a cube and modelling it to look like the one used in the video, I thought of this as a good way to test my knowledge of the software and the basics of modelling. How to flatten key frames and how to Ease in and Ease out frames. More importantly how to use the graph editor, and the process of animating the different transformations separately. I found the tutorial I was given very useful, I learnt a lot of new things, and ways of animating.
